Eat All the Dim Sum 2016

To be honest, this trip was actually impromptu, as we only decided to travel like one or less than two months before this trip. So for the Bakas first ever solo trip together, the chosen destination was Hong Kong with a side trip to Guang Zhou (mainly because Jasmine wanted to go MAMA for Seventeen lolol).

01/12/2016 (Thursday):

Arrive at Terminal 3 in the early morning (at least it's early for me?) to check in our baggage. With a slight delay, we were flown to our destination, Hong Kong in four hours on Singapore Airlines. Collected our MAMA tickets at the airport from seller and we made our way to Jordan where our Airbnb was. Our Airbnb was totally small, by that I really really smallllll. It barely fits all of us, and all we can do is to sigh because that is how most Hong Kong accommodations looks like.

Dropped our stuff in the Airbnb before making our way to Tsim Sai Tsui for Dim Sum Icon, probably known for their 'playable' dim sum lol. Ordered a few dishes of Crayon Shin-chan themed along with some other food. Food wise is okay, but that was not what I consider as authentic dim sum lololol. Not a bad choice if you like playing with your food tho.

Walked our way back to Jordan since it was just a station away, making a pit stop at Mido Cafe, where we ordered a Shrimp toast to share. It was pretty delicious tho. Stopped at Wellcome, a supermarket chain near our Airbnb to get snacks before heading back to rest for the day.

02/12/2016 (Friday):

Walked our way to Mongkok, where we had breakfast at Mos burger (looks like it was our intention to try Mos burger in every country? lol). I had this pumpkin croquette burger which tasted awesome by the way. Walked around aimlessly while waiting for the Line Store at Langham Place to open for business. Line store was obviously Jasmine's heaven hahah so the rest of us did not take long in the store (tho I was tempted by the Choco plushie).

Shopped some of my assets away at Okashi Land, a snack store at the basement of Langham Place before returning back to the Airbnb to rest and unload our shopping bags. Made our way to Hong Kong Station for Tim Ho Wan, one of the dim sum places that I was looking forward to. Was greeted by the long queue, but thankfully it did not take too long for us to get seats. My favourites from Tim Ho Wan was the Baked BBQ pork buns, the shao mai, the fried shrimp dumplings, and the ma lai gao.

Trained our way down to Asia World Expo - the location of MAMA 2016. Since we only bought the red carpet tickets, we left before the actual ceremony started, but not without getting some freebies to breakeven. LOL #cheaposingaporeans.

Landed ourselves at Dim Dim Sum, a slight walk away from our airbnb because we were famished. As the name suggested, it was dim sum and it was our second round for the day lol. Dishes were not bad, and I would recommend the fried beancurd skin wrapped with chee chong fun and the xiao long bao. Cabbed our way back to the Airbnb even though it was just a slight walk back hahahha.

03/12/2016 (Saturday):

Checked out of the Airbnb and we made our way down to Hong Hum Station to take to train down to Guang Zhou. After a two hours ride, we arrived at Guang Zhou East Station. Our hotel for the night was at Vili International Hotel, just a few minutes walk away from the station. Our room in Guang Zhou was a huge contrast compared to our Airbnb for the previous two nights. It was so freaking big and spacious hahahah.

Made our way to the Line Friends Store at Grandview Mall and it was certainly the biggest Line store I ever been to. Did some shopping (Jasmine) before settling ourselves in the Cafe. I absolutely love the Panini that we ordered! After Line Store, we made our way down to Onelink Internation Plaza. However, it was near closing hours when we reach (since it was a wholesale mall). After loitering around for a short while, we made our way to a mall at Ti Yu West Road Station to look around before returning to our hotel.

04/12/2016 (Sunday):

After breakfast at our hotel, we went down to Shang Xia Jiu Pedestrian Street to shop at the little shops. Met up with Elaine's cousin who was visiting too for a short while before continuing on. Rush our way back to the hotel to do last minute packing and to check out. Made our way to the train and hopped on to the train back to Hong Kong.

Our last night accommodation in Hong Kong was spent at Pearl Premium Guesthouse located at Tsim Sai Tsui, yet another tiny place. It was slight better than the Airbnb tho. Walked around before heading to Ichiran (which is just a couple of minutes away from the guesthouse) for dinner. Taste wise it was not as good as the original, but is still good that we actually went back for second round the next morning hahahha.

05/12/2016 (Monday):

Last day in Hong Kong was spent in a frenzy. After breakfast at Ichiran, we made our way to get wife biscuits from Hang Hueng (bonus was Glory Bakery which is just two doors away from Hang Hueng), and cookies from Jenny. Packed and checked out before making our way down to the Airport for our flight back to a lot warmer Singapore.

This trip is pretty short so the days passed by in blur hahahha. Had fun together with the bakas tho, despite little disagreements we have during the trip. So till the next trip then hahaha.

Happy Birthday, Dumboh

Happy 25th/26th birthday, Yuboh! May you be healthy and happy always. This gif is made by yours truly (tho it's pretty last minute that I did it yesterday night hahah). Just know that despite the fact that I may have run out of words for you, you will always have a special presence in my heart.

Love you, always.
