Kuantan Weekend Trip

Okay, so I went for a short weekend trip to Kuantan, Malaysia a couple of weeks back, and kinda have no time to update as I'm doing my internship at the moment. Oppsy.

Hahaha.

Day 1 - 11 May 2014

Woke up at 4:30am because my family was meeting the rest at Kranji at 7:00am.
Went out at about 5:45am and the dawn weather was certainly a lot warmer than what I expected.
Took the train to Kranji and waited for a while before our ride come.
Went for the woodlands link and it's a smooth journey from Singapore to Malaysia without much queuing.

Our guide brought us a place (which I don't know where) for breakfast.
It's just a row of mini stalls that sells a variety of food.
Ate a filling breakfast of dim sum and kuay chap that were shared among the family and soon we were on a bumpy ride of approximately 5 or 6 hours before we reached our destination - Kuantan

Lunch was at this Chinese restaurant and oh boy, we were presented with a feast that consist of fish, seafood, meat and vegetables. I like the prawns - I think it's sweet and sour prawn?
Taste wise, it's pretty okay since I enjoyed it but it's certainly not the best meal we had for the whole trip.

It was intended for us to go to the beach but we decided to change our schedule to shopping instead as the sun was burning all of us up. Hahah.
The guide brought us to Berjaya Mega Mall (I think that's the mall) and we spent a couple of hours there. We were given free ice-cream in mall - I think it's because it's mother's day? Hahaha.
Bought nothing from the mall though.

After shopping, we were brought to our guesthouse - Quality guesthouse.
The guesthouse was pretty clean albeit still lacking in some ways like *coughs*lousywificonnection*coughs* and the erm, not very practical bathroom. LOL.
Minimal but at least it's cleaner than expectation.

Rested at the guesthouse for a few hours before heading down to teluk cempedak beach for a short stay.
Relieve memories from a few back when we made a short visit to Kuantan. A lot have indeed change, the place had become more commercialized. The beach was filled people as it's mother's day. Hahaha.
We bought some rattan/wood goods before heading down to this restaurant which is famous for their coconut prawn dish.

Our guide bought a yam in celebration to mother's day - I think it's pretty sweet of him. Hahaha. The cake was pretty delicious, just that it has too much fresh cream - would be better with more yam flavoured cream.
Dinner was good too, and I love the steam egg/tofu dish - it's so freaking smooth, oh lord - and the chicken. The coconut prawns was not bad - it's like prawns cooked in watery coconut milk curry, a little too spicy for me.

Went back to the guesthouse and rested for the night.

Day 2 - 12 May 2014

As usual, did not sleep very well (a norm for me) for the night.
Breakfast was at 8:00am and I had chee chong fan at this hawker place.
As there was a supermarket next to the eating place, we shopped for a while before heading down to Lemping.

At mid-point, we stopped at a Taoist Temple and walked through a freaking long dragon tunnel (I actually thought it was just a short few steps tunnel and nope, I was soooooooooo wrong.)
Moved on to lemping where we shopped for some local product - coconut biscuit - first before having lunch.
Lunch as okay (again) but the tofuuuuuuuuu is so yums. Hahaha.

The next stop was a bridge that looked flimsy to me so skipped out and accompanied my grandma while the rest ventured on.
We were then brought to the Tin Mine Museum and took a short tour around before heading back to Kuantan.

Stop-over at a row of fruits stall before heading down for shopping at East Coast Mall.
Again, I did not buy much - except for some food. Hahaha.

The guide then brought us Pak Su Seafood Restaurant (apparently a famous one) for dinner. The stuffed crab was interesting though.

After dinner, we then head back to the guesthouse where I sneaked a last minute happy birthday text to Cousin Jessica.

Last day - 13 May 2014

Woke up early than the day before as we are heading back home!
Breakfast was at this hawker place and I ordered chicken congee. The taste of the congee was divine though I can't finish a bowl - since I'm not that hungry. D:
Took a walk at the walkway opposite the Kuantan signage (the above picture) before and to buy local products.

Returned back to our guesthouse to pack and I took a short nap. Ha.
Lunch was at this seclude place but damn, it's certainly the best meal we ever had for the whole flipping trip. I'm so in love with the salted egg prawns- sighs I am salivating right now.

It was another long ass 5 or 6 hours back and we stopped for a while at mid-point to collect the otah and biscuits my family ordered.
Dinner was the worse place for the trip so I shall not continue how sucky it is.

More journey back to the checkpoint yups, we were lucky enough to have a smooth traffic back and it's home sweet home.

-------------------------------

It's nice to have a short getaway and it's a place that we have not visited for a long time. It certainly felt nostalgic to laugh and talk about the previous short visit and we were certainly delighted to spot the western food restaurant - Sherwood - on our way. What a pleasant surprise it is.

:)

I won't choose

I... I never thought that I will experience this.
To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm feeling right now...
Hurt? ...Not quite
Betrayed? Don't think so
Confused? Kinda
But I guess most of it is numb? I'm certain that I don't feel shock nor at peace.
Yup, just numb...

But what I feel doesn't matter.
All I hope is that my kids will not be hurt by this situation.

Hey Krissy, no matter what happens, know that I'll be beside you.
Because I know you have a reason for this painful decision.
Because I know it hurts you as much as it hurts the others.
Because I believe in you.
Because I want you to be happy.

We will be okay.
